Minecraft has finally announced its deadline[1]Minecraft – LAST CALL TO VOLUNTARILY MIGRATE JAVA ACCOUNTS to all Java Edition players who have not yet switched to Microsoft accounts.

Starting March 10, you’ll need a Microsoft account to play Java.

Minecraft announced in October 2020 that it would migrate all of its players from Mojang to Microsoft, and it had allowed players a year to move their accounts voluntarily.

However, the company announced the expiry date of Minecraft Java Edition on February 4, 2022 and urged that all of its users relocate by the recommended schedule, or they would no longer be allowed to play Minecraft.

The company stated that the voluntary account migration period to get a Microsoft account would end on March 10, 2022, and players would not be able to play the game unless they created a Microsoft account.

According to Minecraft, the move will not affect the Minecraft Java Edition game. The Java Edition is well-known for its third-party map modifications, mini-games, and online multiplayer mode. Minecraft has also said that this change would not affect PvP (player vs. player) mode.

Furthermore, the account move will be free of charge. Minecraft has published YouTube videos, instructions [2]Minecraft – Change Game Version for Minecraft: Java Edition, emails, and in-game assistance to help gamers migrate. Minecraft also gives out a free cape to everyone who switches to a Microsoft account.
